What is an elopement wedding, and what does “elopement” actually mean?

“Running away” is the German translation of the term “elopement.” In the past, couples who couldn’t get their parents’ permission to marry would “run away” and get married, for example, in Scotland by a  Blacksmith Priests (see Gretna Green).

Today, however, many couples simply wish to get married in quiet intimacy, just the two of them, without guests. An elopement wedding is certainly not a rash decision, but simply the choice to have an intimate wedding just for the two of you.

What is a “Tiny Wedding”?

A “Tiny Wedding” refers to a small wedding with just a few guests. This type of wedding emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, when only a few people were allowed to gather for celebrations. What began as a necessity has now become a full-fledged trend.
